The arrival of the 24MP D610 comes two-and-a-half years after the announcement of its predecessor the D7000, and it’s a pretty serious upgrade.Nikon D610 is the first Nikon DSLR to offer 1920×1080 movie recording, which record full 1080p HD 60i/30p video H.264/MPEG-4 MOV format. But this D610 MOV video format is a long GOP format that is highly compressed, it is not a good editing format. So the Nikon D610 Full HD 1080p MOV is still incompatible with Mac FCP X NOW! After shooting some test footage on Nikon D610 Full HD 1080p MOV Videos, I am not able to import the Nikon MOV files into Final Cut Pro X.
So I have to googled to look for the workaround for editing Nikon D610 HD MOV files on Mac. I find Nikon Video Converter for Mac as a great tool to make the videos compatible to Final Cut Pro X. It would Convert Nikon D610 MOV files to ProRes 422 and ProRes 422 (HQ), so that I can import into Final Cut Pro X, export ProRes 422 at the same settings as the original and play it with QuickTime.
Below is the simple step-by-step guide to convert and without rendering import Nikon D610 MOV files to ProRes 422 for Final Cut X editing and QuickTime playback.

(The Apple ProRes 422 (Proxy) codec is intended for offline editing and contains 30 percent of the data rate of Apple ProRes 422, and I recommend you to select Apple ProRes 422(HQ), Apple ProRes 422(LT) MOV for outputting.)
